Medusa and Liberty

I have always been fascinated by the way Michael Powell's "Black Narcissus" was as if painted by light. The liberties Gericault took with impossible light sources to increase the drama are well suited to a studio-shoot recreation. The two images, visualising victory and hope, were art directed for an award winning adverting campaign for Aventis.
